Living the good life!

It's been an exciting week in South Florida!! I had a job interview in Palm Beach County last Wednesday. With being in our new place for less than a week, I still hadn't unpacked my suits and pumps! While I was prepping for the interview, I was frantically searching for the best interview get-up in the jungle of boxes that was our home office! Fortunately I found the perfect "hire me" outfit and was ready for my interview in Boca Raton.  The interview went well and right after the interview, I was offered the position of learning team facilitator! This position would allow me to work with teachers to look at student data, identify learning targets, and plan instruction to meet the needs of all students. I spent the rest of Wednesday thinking of the possibilities in this role and Thursday morning I accepted! I begin training this Thursday. I feel so fortunate to land a job in less than one week of being in Florida. I look forward to being in this role and helping teachers help students.

Hoor and I decided it was time to become official Floridians, so Friday afternoon we headed to the DMV (always an interesting place filled with interesting people). Half way into our drive we experienced torrential downpour. The streets started to flood and we arrived completely soaked! (Two things I have learned about living in Florida--1) Don't waste time straightening your hair. 2) ALWAYS carry an umbrella). We waited about 2 hours and then we received our Florida driver's license. Now it's official! On our way home we hit up a New York themed pizzeria called Empire Pizza. The pizza was a well-deserved treat after a long and wet afternoon at the DMV. Saturday morning we ran all over town in search for items that would make our new home complete. Thank you Mom and Sherry for all of the Bed Bath and Beyond coupons! We saved $60!!

I don't know what it is about South Florida, but Hoor and I always have a taste for tacos! We found a happening taco joint called Zona Fresca while running our errands. The fish tacos were AMAZING!! In celebration of my new job, Hoor bought me the new iPhone and I bought him a new wedding band (Hoor lost his in Hawaii last summer). I can't have him running around South Florida "single!"

We woke up early on Sunday, packed a picnic lunch, and headed to Hollywood Beach. Because my new phone is awesome, I was able to Skype with Mom and Dad with the beach in the background! We spent much of the afternoon getting relief from the heat by swimming in the warm Atlantic waters. An afternoon shower abruptly ended our beach day. There's always next weekend, right?
